In the year 1929 a baby boy was born to Mrs. E Cummings in Feltham Middlesex named James. He went to school at the age of 5. In 1939 the war broke out, his father had to go into the army, and eventually the family evacuated to Wiltshire to escape Hitler's bombs. He had a brother 4 years younger now and a sister 6 years younger. Another baby girl was born in Wiltshire. After the war the family moved to Hanworth about 3 miles away. At 17 James joined the air force and. In 1947 he married a local girl, and they had 3 boys. He eventually in 1954 got a job at BOAC which is now British Airways, and stayed there for nearly 37 years. He took early retirement in 1991. In September of that year he became seriously ill with Lymphoma, a blood cancer. After intense treatment he recovered. He has traveled the world, and is President of the Royal British Legion Club in Hanworth. With his wife Jean they celebrated there golden wedding anniversary on 20th November 1997, on the same day as the Queen. They had a letter from the Queen offering her congratulations. They have 2 great grandchildren. Although both in there 70s they are active and enjoying there retirement traveling and playing bowls. I am James Cummings.
